The MEC for the Department of Environment and Nature Conservation Northern Cape Province has, in terms of section 33(1) of the National Environmental Management Act: Protected Areas Act 57 of 2003 given notice of his intention to declare the the Tswalu Kalahari Nature Reserve, located at the foot of the northernmost reaches of the Korannaberg, approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Kimberley.05

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 23(1) of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004, declared a small boiler as a controlled emitter and has also established emission standards for small boilers in terms of section 24 of the Act.27
