MacRobert Attorneys Employment Law practice group represents, among others, employees and employers which include persons and businesses, state-owned enterprises, trade unions, local government institutions, major domestic and international corporations, bargaining councils and employers' organisations in all areas of business and industry.

Our areas of expertise include advising clients in employment dispute resolution and litigation; restructuring and retrenchments; compliance with South African employment law legislation, disciplinary investigations and enquiries; unfair dismissals; unfair labour practices, unfair discrimination; strikes/lockouts; employment equity; labour broking services; non-payment of wages, overtime, leave and severance pay as well as the drafting and implementation  of employment contracts and codes of conduct for both fixed-term employees and independent contractors.

We draft a wide range of employment-related agreements, policies, procedures and restraints of trade; and provide legal advice on existing and emerging employment-related legislation.

In addition to providing legal advice to clients on employment-related issues, we represent and support clients by appearing in disputes and litigious matters and reviews of CCMA/ bargaining councils’ arbitration awards. The fora in which we appear on behalf of clients include the CCMA, respective Bargaining Councils, the Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court.  Moreover, we also represent clients in private arbitrations, ensuring a fair and timely resolution that aligns with a client’s best interests and business models.

Our expertise extends to chairing disciplinary hearings and offering training sessions for managers, shop stewards, IR consultants and human resources officers in relation to all areas of employment law.
