INTERNATIONAL TRADE ADMINISTRATION ACT (71/2002): RENEWAL OF THE POLICY DIRECTIVE ON THE EXPORTATION OF FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS WASTE AND SCRAP METAL

On 14 August 2018, the Minister of Economic Development (the Minister) published for comment a draft notice of renewal of the policy directive to the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) in terms of the International Trade Administration Act, (the ITA Act) on the exportation of ferrous and non-ferrous waste and scrap metal. Stakeholders and interested parties were invited to submit comments on the draft renewal of the policy directive before the Minister decided whether to renew the directive.

Following consideration of the matter and comments received, The Minister has renewed the policy directive of 10 May 2013 (issued to ITAC in terms of Section 5 of the ITA Act) on the exportation of ferrous and non-ferrous waste and scrap metal for a period of 9 months, commencing on the date of publication of this notice until 30 June 2019.
