NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): CALEDON MODDER SUBSYSTEM-LIMITING THE USE OF WATER IN TERMS OF ITEM 6 OF SCHEDULE 3 OF THE ACT

The Director General of the Department of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of item 6(1) of Schedule 3 to the NWA, limited the taking of water from the Caledon- Modder subsystem by all users as contained in the schedule to this notice.

NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): SAND-VET WATER USERS ASSOCIATION WATER SUPPLY SCHEME-LIMITING THE USE OF WATER IN TERMS OF ITEM 6 OF SCHEDULE 3 OF THE ACT

The Director General of the Department of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of item 6(1) of Schedule 3 to the NWA limited the taking of water from the Sand-Vet Water Users Association water supply scheme by all users as follows – 92% restriction on water use for irrigation purposes from the Allemanskraal Dam; 85% restriction on water use for irrigation purposes from the Erfenis Dam; and 40% restriction on water use for domestic and industrial supply to the towns of Brandfort and Theunissen within the Masilonyana Municipality as well as Bultfontein and Hoopstad within the Tswelopele Municipality.

NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): PROPOSAL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BERG-OLIFANTS CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT AGENCY

The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of section 78(3) of the NWA, proposed the establishment of the Berg-Olifants Catchment Management Agency, which will be situated in the Berg River water management area together with Olifants-Doorn in Western Cape.

The President of the Republic of South Africa has, in terms of section 101 of the NEMICMA, determined the commencement date of sections 65, 66, 95, 96 and 98 of the Act to be 5 February 2016.

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: PROTECTED AREAS ACT (57/2003): DRAFT NOTICE DECLARING THE ISIMANGALISO MARINE PROTECTED AREA UNDER SECTION 22A OF THE ACT

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 22B of the NEMPAA, given notice of her intention to withdraw the existing St Lucia and Maputaland Marine Protected Areas declared in stipulations 2(11) and 2(12) of Government Gazette 21948, Notice No 1429 of 29 December 2000, and to declare, under section 22A of the NEMPAA, the iSimangaliso Marine Protected Area as set out in the schedule to this notice.
