Joannah is a BA Law and LLB graduate from the University of Pretoria. Her passion for law started when she became the first black head girl of a predominantly Afrikaans school, Hoërskool Hendrik Verwoerd – fighting against injustice and advocating for change. At university, she took part in Moot Court competitions and won best oralist and overall winner in the regional rounds of the Kovsies Moot Court competition and second place in the national competition. Joannah was a coach and judge for various Moot Court competitions and part of the TuksRes Women in Leadership Academy. She completed her advanced Human Rights Course, participated in the Trial Advocacy Course and was a member and panellist for the Students for Law and Social Justice Committee at the University of the Free State. She has a keen interest in medical law and learning more about personal injury law and corporate and commercial law.
