NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (107/1998) - REGULATIONS TO PROHIBIT THE PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION, IMPORT, EXPORT, SALE AND USE OF PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTANTS THAT ARE LISTED BY THE STOCKHOLM CONVENTION ON PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTANTS

The purpose of these Regulations is to prohibit the production, distribution, import, export, sale and use of the substances contemplated in Regulation 3, which include but are not limited to:

  1. Hexabromocyclododecane;
  2. Hexachlorobutadlene;
  3. Polychlorinated naphthalenes;
  4. Short-chain chlorinated paraffins.

Any person convicted of an offense under these Regulations is liable to either a fine or imprisonment or both.
