NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT WASTE ACT (59/2008): CONSULTATION ON THE AMENDED PROPOSED INDUSTRY WASTE TYRE MANAGEMENT PLANS

The Acting Minister of Environmental Affairs has under section 32(5A), read with sections 72 and 73 of the NEM:WA, given notice of his intention to consider the two amended Industry Waste Tyre Management Plans received, namely TWAMISA and SATRUCO. The Industry Waste Tyre Management Plans were received for consideration in response to Government Notice No. 1148, published in Government Gazette No. 41213 of 30 October 2017 under section 28(1) of NEM:WA, which called upon the tyre industry to prepare and submit an industry waste tyre management plan for approval. Public hearings were conducted on these proposed plans and the proponents were requested to amend their submissions after considering the comments received during the process. The proponents have amended their submissions which are now made available to the public to provide any further comments and inputs. The Acting Minister has noted that the industry waste management plans are published as they were received and government takes no responsibility for the content of the documents.

Members of the public were required to submit written inputs or comments on the revised Industry Waste Tyre Management Plans to the Minister, within 30 days from the date of publication of the abovementioned Notice in the Gazette.
