NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: PROTECTED AREAS ACT (57/2003): DECLARATION NOTICE: DECLARE NATURE RESERVES AND PROTECTED ENVIRONMENTS
The MEC for the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism has, in terms of sections 23(1)(a)(i)(b), 28(1)(a)(i)(b) and 38(2)(a)(b) of the NEM:PAA, given notice of his intention to declare the following protected areas – Amakhala Game Reserve; Hopewell Private Game Reserve; Kariega Game Reserve; Kwandwe Private Game Reserve; Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve; Pumba Private Game Reserve; Shamwari Game Reserve; Sibuya Game Reserve; Buffalo Kloof Protected Environment; Sand River Private Nature Reserve; and Kromensee Nature Reserve.17

MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT (29/1996): GUIDELINE FOR THE COMPILATION OF A MANDATORY CODE OF PRACTICE FOR AN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAMME (OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE AND MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE)
The Chief Inspector of Mines has, in terms of section 49(6) of the MHSA, issued the guideline for the compilation of a mandatory code of practice for an occupational health program (occupational hygiene and medical surveillance) on personal exposure to airborne pollutants in terms of the MHSA.17

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: WASTE ACT (59/2008): NATIONAL NORMS AND STANDARDS FOR VALIDATION OF THE TREATMENT EFFICACY AND OPERATION OF A NON-COMBUSTION TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY USED TO TREAT HEALTH CARE RISK WASTE
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has given notice her intention to make the national norms and standards for the validation of the treatment efficacy and operation of a non- combustion treatment technology used to treat health care risk waste, in terms of section 7(1)(c) read with sections 72 and 73 of NEM:WA.17

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: WASTE ACT (59/2008): PROPOSED NATIONAL HEALTH CARE RISK WASTE MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has given notice of her intention to make regulations regarding health care risk waste, in terms of sections 69(1)(b), (g), (h), (q), (r), (s), (dd), and (ee) read with sections 72 and 73 of NEM:WA.17

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (107/1998): AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE FINANCIAL PROVISION FOR PROSPECTING, EXPLORATION, MINING OR PRODUCTION OPERATIONS
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has amended the Financial Provision Regulations, 2015 in terms of section 44(aE), (aF), (aG), (aH) read with sections 24(5)(b)(ix), 24(5)(d), 24N, 24P and 24R of NEMA by the insertion of section 17A pertaining to the extension of the transitional period for holders of offshore oil or gas exploration or production rights.17
