NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (107/1998): REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE FINANCIAL PROVISION FOR THE REHABILITATION, CLOSURE AND POST CLOSURE OF PROSPECTING, EXPLORATION, MINING OR PRODUCTION OPERATIONS
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has given notice of her intention to make regulations pertaining to the financial provision for the rehabilitation, closure and post closure of prospecting, exploration, mining or production operations, under sections 44(aG) and (aH) read with sections 24(5)(b)(ix), 24P and 24R of the NEMA, as set out in the schedule to this notice.17

MINERAL AND PETROLEUM RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT (28/2002): PROHIBITION UNDER SECTION 49(1) OF THE ACT AGAINST GRANTING OF NEW APPLICATIONS FOR PROSPECTING RIGHTS, MINING RIGHTS, RECONNAISSANCE PERMISSION AND MINING PERMITS
The Minister of Mineral Resources has, in terms of section 49(1) of the MPRDA, imposed a prohibition on the granting of all new applications for prospecting rights, mining rights, reconnaissance permissions and mining permits in terms of sections 16, 22, 13 and 27 respectively of the MPRDA for an indefinite period in respect of the farms Rotondo 1093, Klein Poortje 1077, Klein Poortje 1052, Poortje 38 and Mooiplaas 1087, District Rouxville, Free State.17

WATER SERVICES ACT (108/1997): EXTENSION OF AREA OF SEDIBENG WATER
The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of section 28 of the WSA, given notice of the extension of the area of operation of Sedibeng Water, to include the entire jurisdictional areas of both Dr Ruth Mopati District Municipality and Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality.17
