The Theewaterskloof Local Municipality has, in terms of section 156 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, enacted Nature Reserves By-Laws aimed at promoting nature and environmental conservation in the area of jurisdiction of the Municipality and to provide for procedures, rules and practices for the use and management of nature reserves.

CONTROL OF PUBLIC NUISANCES BY-LAW

The Nala Local Municipality has, in terms of section 14(2)(a)(i) of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Ac 32 of 2000, enacted the Control of Public Nuisances By-Law aimed at regulating public nuisances likely to affect peace and safety and prohibiting all public nuisances having a negative impact on health within the area of jurisdiction of the Municipality.

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: PROTECTED AREAS ACT (57/2003) (AS AMENDED): INTENTION TO DECLARE NATURE RESERVES

The MEC of the Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 33(1) of the NEM:PAA, given notice of her intention to declare the Mount Morgan Nature Reserve, Angle Ridge Nature Reserve, Oosterbeek Nature Reserve and Ngodwana River Valley Nature Reserve on the properties as indicated in the addendums to this notice.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT (85/1993): NOTICE REGARDING APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION WORK PERMIT IN TERMS OF THE CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS, 2014

The Chief Inspector has, in terms of section 40(3)(b)of the OHSA, granted temporary exemptions from regulation 3 of the Construction Regulations in respect of the following instances – In instances where construction work starts after 7 August 2015 and the works contract is of a value exceeding one hundred and thirty million rand or Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading level 9, clients must at least 30 days before that work is to be carried out apply to the provincial director in writing for a construction work permit to perform the construction work; In instances where construction work starts on or after 7 February 2017 and the works contract is of a value exceeding forty million rand or Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading level 6, clients must at least 30 days before that work is to be carried out apply to the provincial director in writing for a construction work permit to perform the construction work; and In instances where the construction work starts on or after 7 August 2018 and exceeds 365 days; will involve more than 3600 person days of construction work; or the works contract is of a value exceeding thirteen million rand or Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading level 7, clients must at least 30 days before that work is to be carried out apply to the provincial director in writing for a construction work permit to perform the construction work.

MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT (29/1996): REGULATIONS RELATING TO EXPLOSIVES

The Minister of Mineral Resources has, in terms of section 98(1) of the MHSA, replaced the explosives regulations as set out in chapter 4 of the Mine Health and Safety Regulations published under GNR 93 on 15 January 1997 with the explosives regulations as set out in the schedule to this notice.

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of sections 44(1(aC) and 44(1)(b) of the NEMA, given notice of her intention to make regulations pertaining to the procedure to be followed and criteria to be considered when determining a fine pursuant to an application in terms of section 24G of the NEMA.

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of sections 19(2)(a) and 19(3)(a) of the NEM:WA amended the list of Waste Management Activities that have or likely to have a detrimental effect on the Environment, published under GNR 921 on 29 November 2013.
