NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): REGULATIONS ON AFFORESTATION GENUS EXCHANGES
The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of sections 26(1)(g) and 69(1)(a) of the NWA published for public comment the draft regulations requiring the authorisation of afforestation genus exchanges in order to protect water resources, instream or riparian habitat.16

NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): DECLARATION OF THE EXPLORATION AND OR PRODUCTION OF ONSHORE NATURALLY OCCURRING HYDRO-CARBONS THAT REQUIRES STIMULATION AS A CONTROLLED ACTIVITY AND PUBLICATION OF SCHEDULE OF ALL CONTROLLED ACTIVITIES
The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of sections 38(1) and 38(4) of the NWA, declared the following activity to be a controlled activity – "The exploration and or production of onshore naturally occurring hydrocarbons that requires stimulation, including but not limited to hydraulic fracturing and or underground gasification, to extract, and any activity incidental thereto that may impact detrimentally on the water resource".16

INTEGRATED COASTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (24/2008): DRAFT DURBAN BAY AND ORANGE RIVER MOUTH ESTUARINE MANAGEMENT PLANS

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: BIODIVERSITY ACT (10/2004): BIODIVERSITY ECONOMY STRATEGY
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has given notice of her intention to publish the newly developed Biodiversity Economy Strategy, which is a 14 year strategy that will have the following functions – Serve as a guide for the sustainable growth of the wildlife and bioprospecting industries; Provide a basis for addressing constraints for growth; Ensuring sustainability; Identifying clear stakeholder responsibilities; and Monitoring progress of the enabling actions identified in the strategy.04
