The Minister of Environmental Affairs in terms of section 69(1)(dd) read with sections 1 and 73 of the NEMWA intends to make regulations to exclude a waste stream or a portion of a waste stream from the definition of waste.

THE NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): BREEDE-GOURITZ AND BERG-OLIFANTS WATER MANAGEMENT AREAS: LIMITING THE USE OF WATER IN TERMS OF ITEM 6 OF SCHEDULE 3 OF THE ACT FOR URBAN, IRRIGATION AND INDUSTRIAL (INCLUDING MINING) PURPOSES

The Acting Director-General of the DWS has, in terms of item 6(1) of Schedule 3 of the NWA, increased the limit of the taking of water from the Western Cape Water Supply System by users as follows – Increase curtailment from 40% to 45% on all domestic and industrial water use; Increase curtailment from 50% to 60% on all agricultural water use.
