Phumlani graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Law from the University of Pretoria in 2023, majoring in Business Accounting and Taxation. In the subsequent year, he commenced the penultimate year of his LLB degree, completing elective modules including Transnational Business Law, Law of Banking and Finance, and Tax Law.

Throughout his time at the University of Pretoria, he held various leadership and service positions that contributed significantly to his personal and professional development. These included being elected to the House Committee (HC) at TuksRes, where he assisted in managing approximately 640 students, serving in the STARS Mentorship Programme for BCom Law students, and acting as a Class Representative.

Phumlani commenced his candidate attorney articles at MacRobert Attorneys in January 2026. He is enthusiastic about applying the comprehensive theoretical and practical foundation gained from both the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and the Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria to legal and commercial practice. He is particularly keen to grow within the corporate and commercial field of law, while remaining open to developing expertise in other areas of practice.
