The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs has published for public comment, notice of her intention to declare, as a controlled activity in terms of section 38 (3) of the National Water Act 36 of 1998, "the exploration for and or production of onshore unconventional oil or gas resources and any activities incidental thereto, including but not limited to hydraulic fracturing."
Members of the public are invited to submit comments to the Chief Director: Regulation Ms Deborah Mochotlhi of the Department of Water Affairs within 60 days of publication of this Notice (i.e. by 22 October 2013)
