Joannah is a BA Law and LLB graduate from the University of Pretoria. Her passion for law started in secondary school when she became the first black head girl of a predominantly Afrikaans school, Hoërskool Hendrik. Joannah had a keen interest in social justice which was evident in her tertiary schooling years where she took part in the Kovsies Moot Court competitions and won best oralist and overall winner in the regional rounds and obtained second place in the national competition. She was a coach and judge for various Moot Court competitions and was a member of the TuksRes Women in Leadership Academy at the University of Pretoria. She completed her advanced Human Rights Course, participated in the Trial Advocacy Course and was a member and panelist for the Students for Law and Social Justice Committee at the University of the Free State.
Joannah commenced her articles of clerkship at MacRobert Attorneys in January 2020 where she gained experience in Personal Injury Law, Financial Recoveries and Professional Indemnity Law. She was admitted as an attorney in 2022 and is currently a Junior Associate in the Financial Recoveries Department.
