NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: PROTECTED AREAS ACT (57/2003): RE-DECLARATION OF THE UKHAHLAMBA DRAKENSBERG PARK WORLD HERITAGE SITE AS A NATURE RESERVE IN TERMS OF THE ACT

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs has in terms of section 33(1) of the NEM:PAA, given notice of his intention to declare the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site (UDPWHS) as a 'nature reserve'. The purpose of such declaration is to make essential provisions of the NEM:PAA applicable to the UDPWHS. The declaration of the UDP as a World Heritage Site is provided in Government Gazette No. 1199 of 18 December 2017.

Members of the public were to submit written representations on, or objections to, the proposed re-declaration within 60 days of publication of the abovementioned notice.
