HPCSA TO DEREGISTER HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS NOT UP TO DATE WITH THEIR ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

MacRobert is informed that the Health Professions Council of South Africa has taken steps to suspend the registration of hundreds of healthcare practitioners who have not paid their annual subscriptions or who have fallen behind with the payment of their subscriptions. The HPCSA will be informing formerly registered practitioners of their suspension and the effect of the suspension will be that:

  1. The practitioner must cease to practise immediately;
  2. No fees may be charged by the practitioner for services purportedly rendered during the period of suspension;
  3. The practitioner’s registration may only be restored upon payment of the arrear subscriptions and a prescribed fine.
