NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): LIFTING OF WATER RESTRICTIONS NOTICE

The Director-General (Acting) of the Department of Water and Sanitation has, under section 63 read with section 72 of the NWA, given notice that water shortage systems no longer exist in the following dams/systems: “(a) 1.Mgenl System including the Moot River and Little Mooi River to the Mearns Weir;  2. Kilpfontein Dam and White-Mfolozi River System to the Ulundi Weir; and 3. Hluhluwe Dam and river system”. The Director-General (Acting) acting under delegated authority has therefore given notice to lift restrictions on the taking of water from the dams/river systems and corresponding catchments listed in (a) above and to withdraw the restrictions on the dams/systems and corresponding catchments listed in (a) above while still emphasizing that South Africa remains a water scarce country and all efforts to use water efficiently needs to continue.
