MacRobert's employment law practice group represents, among others, state-owned enterprises, trade unions, local government institutions, major domestic and international corporations in all areas of business and industry, bargaining councils and employers' organisations.

Our areas of expertise include, among others, employment dispute resolution and litigation; advising on restructuring and retrenchments; disciplinary investigations and enquiries; dismissals for incapacity (poor work performance and ill health); dismissals for misconduct; mutually agreed terminations; employment discrimination; employment equity; labour broking services; the use of contract labour (fixed-term employees and independent contractors); drafting of a wide range of employment-related policies, procedures and agreements; restraint of trade and legal advice on all existing and new employment-related legislation.

In addition to disputes regarding dismissals, we also handle litigation arising out of alleged discrimination, strikes and lockouts, and the review of CCMA/bargaining councils’ arbitration awards.

We also offer services of chairing disciplinary hearings and we offer training of managers, shop stewards, IR consultants and human resources officers in relation to all areas of employment law.
