Caroline completed her BSc Entomology and LLB degrees at the University of Pretoria with the objective of specialising in environmental law. She proceeded to complete an LLM degree in Environmental Law at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, having been awarded a Chevening Scholarship, during which time she gained knowledge in international environmental conventions and European Union Environmental Directives. Caroline has acted on behalf of large local and international corporations in matters relating to compliance with environmental and mining legislation.

She is responsible for drafting various environmental and mining legal opinions, as well as providing advice on administrative law in respect of environmental and mining law. She also offers advice pertaining environmental indemnities and warranties and is responsible for environmental legal assessment audits and strategising together with clients to find the most beneficial and practicable manner in achieving environmental and mining legal compliance. Caroline joined MacRobert as a senior associate specialising in environmental and mining law in March 2013.

Christelle graduated from the University of Pretoria with an LLB degree. She has experience in areas of litigation, family law and contractual disputes and her specialities lie in personal injury law and contractual disputes. Christelle is an associate in the Personal Injury Litigation Department and is currently expanding her field of expertise towards the drafting of engineering contracts.

In 2003, Deseré started her career at Du Toit-Smuts & Mathews Phosa Attorneys in Nelspruit, where she worked in the conveyancing department. She obtained her LLB degree in 2009 and was admitted as attorney, conveyancer and notary public in the same year. Deseré managed the Nelspruit branch office of a Pretoria-based firm from 2009 up to mid-2014, concentrating exclusively on property transactions and Deeds Office correspondent work. Deseré joined MacRobert Attorneys in August 2014.

Elma obtained her B. Proc degree from UNISA in 2002 after which she was employed as an estate administrator.  She was admitted as an attorney during 2007 and during 2008 was admitted as a conveyancer.  During this period she was employed at Weavind & Weavind Attorneys as a professional assistant and manager of the estate division.  Elma joined MacRobert Attorneys in August 2013 and currently heads the firm’s Estate Law Department.

Gustaf obtained a LLB degree from the University of Pretoria. He served articles at Dyason Inc. He was admitted as an attorney in May 2010. He gained experience in third party litigation, personal injury claims and general litigation matters. Gustaf joined the MacRobert professional indemnity department as an associate in May 2011.

Neelu obtained an LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and was admitted as an attorney in 2008. She gained valuable experience as an attorney whilst working as a private practitioner. Neelu joined the MacRobert Durban office as an associate in July 2012, where she currently specialises in medical law matters.

Shabana obtained the degrees BA and LLB from the University of Cape Town in 2004. She first joined MacRobert Incorporated as a candidate attorney in 2005 and was admitted as an attorney in 2007. She practised in the Medical Division of the Cape Town office until 2009 when she relocated to Sydney, Australia.

While in Sydney, she gained experience as a medico-legal adviser to a medical indemnity insurance company and thereafter practised as a lawyer in the health law division of an international law firm specialising in insurance law litigation. Shabana returned to South Africa and recommenced practice in the Medical Division of the Cape Town office of MacRobert Incorporated in 2016.

Over the years, Shabana has regularly delivered presentations at conferences on a range of dispute resolution and risk management topics specifically relating to health professionals.

Tiaan obtained his BCom Law degree from the University of Pretoria in 2007, followed by his LLB degree in 2009 from the same institution. He served his articles at Savage Jooste & Adams Incorporated in Pretoria, was admitted as an attorney in February 2012 and continued practising in the professional liability and personal indemnity insurance department at the same firm. He joined MacRobert Attorneys in January 2015 as a senior associate in the Professional Indemnity Department. Tiaan’s field of specialisation is in medical negligence law and litigation.

Tracy holds the degrees BProc (cum laude) and LLB from the University of Pretoria and an LLM, with specialisation in Intellectual Property Law, from the University of South Africa. She qualified as an attorney in 1996. Tracy has specialised in intellectual property law since 1996 and qualified as a trade mark practitioner in 1997. She was a partner at one of South Africa’s leading intellectual property law firms before leaving practice to pursue academic interests. Tracy has lectured on intellectual property law at the University of South Africa. Her research focuses on the protection of traditional cultural expressions and she has presented guest lectures on these topics at other Southern African universities. Tracy handles all aspects of trade mark and copyright law in South Africa as well as the rest of Africa and overseas. She is a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL).
